Last Day

I went skiing for real on sunday. This weekend dispite some things i still have yet to finish (read paper work for next year, as usual) i left the A town and headed for Chambery; a beautiful town that happens to be the capital of the Savoi region, and is was a lovely change from Annemasse, that and the spanish assistant was driving to see his copine so i got a free ride down there in 1H and good company. There i met up with a vancouverite who is doing this assistantship thing too; and whose appartment we stayed at for the night- in anothre little town about 20 minutes from Chambery and 45minutes from Grenoble.
The little town was at the foot of the mountains and although it was COLD it was nice to wake up to after an evening of chating--yes! human contact after a week of self imposed hermitage!! I also got new readign material...not bad for just friday and staurday :)

good thing i didnt give into my instincts and stay home and sleep. STill tired; we trained it to Grenoble where she was going to celebrate her birthday dinner with her copin. THere we wandered the lively shopping full town of grenoble; with a lively night life i hear-- ill have to check it out another time because i only stayed for 4h and then headed back to annemasse; very cold and tired... only to once agian denymyself much craved for sleep: brushed my hair and put some swis francs in my bag and got picked up by my Annemasse 'ex future colcos' friends and went for the first time to L'uzine. or le Zoo (dont know if im spelling that well...) THe concert wasnt so great but it was dancable (mix electro/dub... cough cough you knoz i know my music ;)) but it was nice to dance for a while. exhaustion really hit around 1 though ( we left for the zoo at 11mind you; just enough time to change my 2day consecutive clothes. Got up in the morning only to go SKIING; thats right; i used the beginer skills to ski blue and red slopes. i took off my skiis to make a descent finally on one slope i was grupmy discouraged and terrified by the end of thatt run but i continued to ski on 3h of sleep. I got tired, and definitely have some muscle capacityto build (if i didnt restrain myself i would definitely mentined my ankle strain; the fact i had forgotten to tape my knees; and forgotten my knee brace; that i got a blister and that my comprehension was so low at some point that i ended up making an extra decent aftre thinking i was on my last trip down--more importantly last trip down headed on shaky knees to vin chaud. after a repose as the other did another lap- once ifinally explained that i had mis understood and HAD to sop and would wait up at a station; taped my knee; and bandaged my blister and sat looking out over the alps and les lacs de nuages below (lake of clowds) things got better. i even skied ito the evening. best part was being one of the last people to descend the blue slopes to return to the base station/ watched sunset fall behind the blue and white mountains in the tinted pink and purple sky WHILE skiing down! and then saw the little town in the valley lit in the falling darkness. it was a winter post card. i live here!
sigh
and now i have 10minutes to find something to eat (in my fridge at home-im at one of my schools) becuse things are closed and i have to teach soon.. the picture looks similar to my evening descent view.

coffee. i need coffee. live now sleep later... right.

love rox.

Note that there are five of us and since I'm the only person who doesn't live there i ended up being the one to make use of the spanish assistants blow up matress (these are handy things) to sleep in her room. sigh: hope i dont get bronchitis (the bacterial infection that the antibiotics were meant to be fighting) : on the plus side i know the necessary numbers for emergency assistance in france (NOTE: if your in france write this down: dial 18 for emergency info; and 15 for the medicin or ambulance directory)

other thoughts:
we did have spring like weather for a while

i will never be a primary school teacher.

i dont want to work with children for a long time.
i want to be selfish and self absorbed and have high moral standards and be aghast that they havent developed compassion and sensitivity towards others yet.

im a sucker for teacher presents

i also went skiing with the little kids this wednesday (usually my day off except for the theatre workshop i am doign in english at one of the lycees(highschool); although i was exhausted getting there i actually got learn how do down hill and only made one bathroom trip instead of three like last time.
